Green jobs are roles that focus on reducing carbon emissions, protecting ecosystems, and promoting environmental sustainability. 1. Microgravity in space affects human health, as seen during the early Apollo missions. Astronauts had problems like ear issues, heart irregularities, low blood pressure, dehydration, and bone calcium loss. One key discovery was that many astronauts caught colds or infections shortly after returning to Earth, with some even experiencing the reactivation of viruses like chickenpox. These findings led scientists to study how microgravity impacts the immune system through both space missions and Earth-based experiments.

2. A recent study led by Dr. Millie Hughes-Fulford, one of the first female astronauts, focused on the effects of microgravity on immune function. Researchers from UC San Francisco and Stanford University discovered that space travel weakens the immune system, partly due to the abnormal activation of T regulatory cells (Tregs). Normally, Tregs help regulate immune responses after an infection has passed, but in microgravity, they were activated even before the immune system was challenged. This finding, published in Nature Scientific Reports, revealed that Tregs suppressed immune responses when stimulated in microgravity.

3. Dr. Hughes-Fulford, who became the first female payload specialist in space in 1991, dedicated decades to studying the effects of microgravity. She initially focused on osteoporosis and later shifted her attention to the immune system. Throughout her career, Dr. Hughes-Fulford mentored numerous aspiring space scientists, including those involved in this study. She passed away in February due to leukemia, but her work continues to influence research in space health.

4. As space travel becomes more commercialized, concerns about the health of space travelers are growing. Dr. Jordan Spatz, who became a co-principal investigator after Dr. Hughes-Fulford's passing, emphasized the importance of addressing the negative effects of microgravity, particularly as more people, especially older individuals, venture into space.

They consider jobs as avenues for personal development, and once they have attained their goals, they are likely to seek new opportunities. [II] To accommodate this generation, businesses must adopt an employee-centric approach, incorporating digital tools that foster collaboration and empower workers to maximize their potential.

3. Gen Z's familiarity with digital technology, having grown up with smartphones, means they are naturally skilled in emerging technologies. [III] Jobs such as app development and coding are increasingly filled by these digital natives, who understand how to leverage new technologies in ways older generations might not. To attract and retain top talent, businesses must provide modern workspaces that offer hybrid working options and promote collaboration. [IV]

4. With more digital natives entering the workforce, business leaders should adapt their workplaces to meet the needs of this generation. This doesn't mean disregarding older generations but creating a flexible work environment that suits everyone. By doing so, companies can ensure no generation feels neglected.

5. By embracing flexibility, businesses can move away from outdated organizational structures, allowing employees to work in ways that suit their individual preferences. Hybrid working, crucial for Gen Z and millennials, fosters a more engaged workforce and strengthens company culture.
