1. Giới từ chỉ thời gian (Prepositions of time)

- at + giờ / dịp lễ

  ​Ví dụ: at 9 o'clock, at Christmas, at Easter,...

  Trường hợp khác: at noon / midday, at night / midnight, at the weekend (hoặc on the weekend), at sunrise, at sunset, at present, at the moment, at the age of,...

- on + ngày / thứ trong tuần

  Ví dụ: on Monday, on the third of June, on January 15^th,...

  Trường hợp khác: on Sunday afternoon, on Thursday morning, on New Year's Eve,...

- in + khoảng thời gian trong ngày / tháng / mùa / năm / thế kỉ 

  Ví dụ: in the morning, in March, in spring, in 1998, in the 21^st century,...

2. Giới từ chỉ nơi chốn (Prepositions of place)

- at (ở tại) + địa điểm nhỏ, cụ thể

  Ví dụ: at the bus stop, at the airport, at the door, at the corner of a street, at the end of a road,...

- on (ở trên một bề mặt)

  Ví dụ: on the table, on the ground, on the grass, on the first floor, on the wall, on the board,...

Trường hợp khác: on the left, on the right, on + phương tiện công cộng (on a bus / train / plane / ...)

- in (ở trong một không gian)

  Ví dụ: in a car, in a taxi, in a box, in my pocket, in the sky,...

- in + địa điểm lớn (thành phố, đất nước,...)

  ​Ví dụ: in Nha Trang, in London, in France, in Euroupe, in the world,...

- above (ở phía trên, hai vật không tiếp xúc)

  Ví dụ: There's a mirror above the sink.

- under (ở phía dưới)

  ​Ví dụ: They stood under the tree. 

- behind (ở phía sau)

  ​Ví dụ: The boy was hiding behind a tall tree. 

- in front of (ở đằng trước)

  Ví dụ: There's parking space in front of the hotel. 

- between (ở giữa)

  ​Ví dụ: The bookstore is between the park and the cinema. 

- next to / near (ở cạnh, gần)

  Ví dụ: The cinema is next to the bank. 

- opposite (đối diện)​

  Ví dụ: There is a bus stop opposite the post office. 

3. Giới từ chỉ sự chuyển động (Prepositions of movement)

- to (đến)

  ​Ví dụ: to the beach, to the cinema

- from ... to (từ... đến)

  ​Ví dụ: from home to the gym

- through (xuyên qua)

  ​Ví dụ: through the woods, through the tunnel, through the park

- across (ngang qua)

  ​Ví dụ: across the river, across the street

- round / around (vòng quanh, bao quanh)

  ​Ví dụ: around the earth, around the corner

- along (dọc theo)

  ​Ví dụ: along the beach, along a narrow path, along the river bank

- up (lên) / down (xuống)

  ​Ví dụ: up the hill, up the stairs, down the mountain

- toward(s) (về phía)

  ​Ví dụ: towards me, towards the sea

- over (qua bên trên)

  ​Ví dụ: He jumped over the fence.

- into (từ ngoài vào trong) / out of (từ trong ra ngoài)

  Ví dụ: She walked into the room. 

- off (hành động từ vị trí cao xuống)

  ​Ví dụ: The cat jumped off the table.

4. Một số giới từ khác

- for, to (chỉ mục đích, chức năng)

  Ví dụ: He went to the store to buy some groceries.   

- by, with, without, in (chỉ nguyên nhân, cách thức)

  Ví dụ: The book was written by a famous author.

- like, as (tương tự, như thể)

  Ví dụ: He sings like a professional singer. 

- between (giữa 2 người / vật), among / amongst (giữa 3 người/vật trở lên)

  Ví dụ: She was the most popular amongst her peers.

 - upon (nghĩa như "on" nhưng thường được sử dụng trong tình huống trang trọng hơn "on')

  Ví dụ: He acted upon the advice given by his mentor.
