Shoulder season is the time between a place's busiest travel period and its quietest months. It usually happens just before or after the summer rush, or in the weeks before ski season starts. It often appears during seasonal weather changes, (1) _______.

In many regions, shoulder season occurs during spring and fall. In the Northern Hemisphere, this typically includes March to May and September to October. However, the timing varies by destination. (2) _______, nations such as Vietnam and Kenya observe different patterns. Their shoulder season takes place before or after the rainy period rather than in the usual spring or autumn months.

Traveling in the shoulder season provides several notable advantages. It is possible to visit beaches and museums (3) _______. 1. Vietnam will hold a Lifelong Learning Week from October 1 to 7, with opening ceremonies taking place across the country. The Ministry of Education and Training has issued an official document to local authorities, urging them to plan and implement effective activities in response to the event.

2. Local authorities are encouraged to emphasize the importance of self-learning and lifelong learning, particularly in mastering knowledge and technology. They are advised to host seminars and forums with experts on topics such as technological trends, digital literacy, and effective learning methods. Awareness campaigns should reflect UNESCO's motto “Learning to Know, Learning to Do, Learning to Live Together, and Learning to Be,” along with other relevant messages aligned with the event.

3. The Ministry has recommended providing training courses to enhance both basic and advanced digital skills. These courses should cover the use of online tools, access to open educational resources, data security, identification of cyber risks, and an introduction to emerging technologies such as data analysis and artificial intelligence. Collaboration between educational institutions and businesses is also encouraged to offer career counselling and practical experience in the field of information technology.

4. Local governments should endorse digital library creation and facilitate shared usage to maximize access to information. This initiative aims to expand opportunities for lifelong learning and improve the availability of educational resources.

5. Lastly, schools and institutions are urged to organize contests and activities focused on new knowledge and digital technology, such as programming, digital content creation, robotics, and data science. Additionally, businesses are invited to share job opportunities, recruitment trends, and career advice, while entrepreneurs and local artisans are encouraged to share their stories of self-learning, business creation, and technological innovation to inspire students and learners.

1. Vocational education is increasingly viewed as a pathway that provides both cultural knowledge and practical skills for future careers. For many junior-high graduates, it has become a suitable choice. According to Mr. Dao Phi Truong from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, students can study at secondary schools, colleges, continuing education centers, or integrated institutions where cultural subjects and vocational training are offered together through flexible programs.

2. The first option is a four-subject cultural program. Once the program is completed, a certificate validating high-school-standard cultural understanding is awarded, making further college education possible. The second option is a seven-subject program that allows students to take the national high school graduation exam like general-education learners. Those who pass receive an official diploma and may apply to universities. [I] These flexible pathways help students strengthen academic and vocational skills while shaping clearer career goals early.

3. Career orientation after junior high is essential, leading schools and education authorities to improve their counseling programs. Deputy Director Truong Hai Thanh said recent Admissions and Career Guidance Days have provided reliable information, helping students gain important knowledge and transferable skills. With early guidance, they can explore different future paths. [II] Vocational education offers practical routes and opportunities that fit students' strengths and long-term goals.

4. AI is becoming an inseparable part of modern life, bringing both new opportunities and concerns for students. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, a psychology and career-counseling specialist, said that learners should first understand their own strengths, weaknesses, and interests before looking at career trends. He explained that although AI affects the job market, only a small number of careers are strongly impacted, while most will continue to develop. [III]

5. Ninth-grader Trinh Nhat Duyen from Tran Van on Secondary School shared that she once feared AI-generated artwork might overshadow her passion for the arts. However, after receiving expert advice, she feels more confident in pursuing an art-related field. [IV] In an era of rapid technological change, she believes that career decisions should rely not only on industry trends but also on self-understanding and adaptability.
